Evanescence

We went up to Auckland for the Evanescence concert on Thursday.
Ben took the picture to the left out the window of our hotel room - apart from the view it was the crappiest hotel room ever. There was construction going on right next to the hotel so we woke up at 7am when the construction started, evil bastards. The hotel was right on Queen Street though, so that was good.
Auckland is so Americanised - now they have Borders and Dunkin' Donuts that Americans always talk about (and of course Starbucks, but they have that in Wellington too so it's nothing new to me). Dunkin' Donuts is soo good.
The concert was good except for the fact that we were in the stands looking over at all the people in the standing area having fun, if I had been down there I would've been able to get into the concert and then I wouldn't have had to put up with the blinding lights they shone on the audience at regular intervals. Bonus.
On the way back we visited some of Ben's family in Hamilton, stayed the night there, then drove back on Saturday. We stopped at a chocolate factory shop and a Bendon (underwear) factory shop on the way into Hamilton. Big mistake. I got one of those bras with liquid oil as padding from the underwear shop because it was on sale for $10 and I thought it might keep Ben amused for a while like some sort of demented game.
On way home we stopped off at Taupo for kebabs and heard about how our single friend managed to get laid the night before.
